There are so many amazing facts that have made this dargah one of the major attractions in Rajasthan. It is mainly the shrine of a Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti. History reveals that at the age of 114, the saint got the intuition about his death and locked himself in a room to offer prayers. It was on the sixth day when the saint left his mortal body.
While on your trip to the dargah, do not forget to wait after the namaaz in order to enjoy the qawalli that are regularly sung in the praise of Allah in the mehfil-e-sama.
You may come across two huge pots inside. These pots are used to cook Niaz that is a combination of rice, dry fruits, ghee, saffron, and others. It is a custom to cook the Niaz at night and then serve it as a blessing among the public the next morning after the prayers are offered.
No doubt, you will be able to witness the beautiful Mughal architectural work here also. Keep some time in hand and take a round of the Jama Masjid and you will surely be mesmerized by the tricky work carved on it to make it look so pretty.
Wish to see something unusual? Then visit the dargah just 15 minutes before the evening prayer. You will enjoy the beautiful and serene environment when the dargah workers place candles at different corners of the dargah reciting Persian verses.
The Jannati Darwaza is one of the most major attractions here. It is a huge door that is beautifully decorated with silver. The door is opened only four days a year and these are the days when the dargah attracts the maximum number of crowd.
Reaching Ajmer Sharif
It is said that you can visit the dargah only when you are being called by Allah. But today a huge number of people not only from different parts of the country but also from different parts of the world visit the Dargah Sharif each year.
If you are visiting the place from within the country, you can have a direct access through railways so that you can reach the Ajmer railway station.
In case, if you do not have much access to trains or if you are visiting from outside the country, you have to come to Jaipur airport from where you have to hire a cab to reach Ajmer. To make the trip a bit adventurous, you can also take a train from Jaipur to Ajmer.
