Flora and Fauna of Sundarbans

These plains that remain submerged under the water at a certain part of the day are also called mudflats and are responsible for the mangrove trees. The park is known for the growth of Sundari trees that is a special kind of mangrove species. The specialty of these species is that the roots spike up from the soil and hence when the whole area is under water, still the trees can breath, thanks to these spiked up roots.
Normally, tourist arrives here to enjoy the look of various types of fauna here. You have to take a cruise ride from where the experts will guide you and show you some of the most endangered species found here. If you are lucky enough you will be able to see the Royal Bengal Tiger on the banks drinking water, or the saline water crocodiles swimming in the water. Along with these, you will be also able to view a number of other creatures such as fishing cats, flying fox, wild boar, macaques, and many others.
During evenings, you will love to see the sky filled with a number of birds returning to their nests. You will be able to view different types of birds such as black headed ibis, pariah kites, green pigeons, woodpeckers, golden plovers and many more.
The watery park has to be filled with a number of aquatic creatures. Some of the aquatic creatures that you may see are shrimps, skipping frogs, electric rays, and star fish. One of the main attractions that for which also Sundarbans is famous is the Ganges dolphins.
